If you remove the center of the cherry tomatoes, the vegetables will make a great base for a delicious appetizer. And the peculiarity of the next dish is that you need to make a dough roll with a filling and put the pieces in the empty tomatoes. It turns out to be a very original appetizer.

The idea of preparing an original festive tomato appetizer was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Natalia with the nickname smak_nata . For decoration, you will need dried plums and pistachios.

Recipe for an original tomato appetizer


  • tomatoes - 14 pcs.
  • cream cheese - 50-70 g
  • cheese slices - 4 pcs
  • salt
  • ground pepper
  • mushrooms - 10 pcs
  • green onions
  • dill

Ingredients for pesto cream:

  • seeds - 40 g
  • olive oil - 40 g
  • garlic - 3 cloves
  • salt
  • basil - a bunch
  • spinach - a bunch
  • cream cheese - 40 g

Ingredients for the decor:

  • dried plums
  • pistachios

How to cook mushrooms:

Tomatoes without pulp

1. Finely chop the mushrooms.

2. Fry in vegetable oil, at the end add green onions, salt and pepper.

Method of preparation of pesto cream:

1. Dry the seeds in a dry frying pan.

2. Beat the seeds, olive oil, garlic, salt, basil, spinach with a blender until creamy.

Putting the filling on the dough

3. Add the cream cheese and mix thoroughly.

4. Fill the pastry bag.

5. Cut off the top of the tomatoes and remove the flesh.

6. Season with salt and pepper inside.

7. Cut the stem from the top, for example, with a pastry bag nozzle.

8. Mix the cream cheese well until smooth and transfer to a pastry bag.

To form the appetizer

Putting mushroom rolls in empty tomatoes

1. Spread two strips of pesto cream and two strips of cream cheese on the cheese plate.

2. Put the mushrooms and roll them into a tube.

3. Cut into 4-5 pieces.

4. Put the tube in the tomatoes and cover with the top.

5. Garnish with parsley and sprinkle with chopped pistachios before serving.

6. Roll the sliced tubes with the filling in chopped dill and serve as a separate appetizer with dried plums.
