Homemade cabbage rolls are a hearty and very simple home-cooked dish that can be made not only from white cabbage, but also from Chinese cabbage and even without cabbage in a lazy version. Rice, bulgur, and even buckwheat can be used for the filling.

How to cook delicious cabbage rolls

Chef Tatiana Litvinova shared a recipe for delicious, juicy stuffed cabbage rolls with minced meat and without rice on Instagram.

Cabbage rolls recipe without rice

Ingredients:

  • cabbage - 1.5 kg
  • minced meat - 600 g
  • onion - 200 g
  • carrots - 150 g
  • buckwheat - 45 g
  • tomato puree - 300 g
  • ghee - 20 g
  • salt - 8 g
  • black pepper - 3 g

Method of preparation:

1. Wrap the cabbage in cling film and microwave at 700 watts for 15-20 minutes.

2. Grate carrots and onions coarsely, fry over medium heat in ghee under a closed lid for 10-15 minutes. Mix the meat with the cooked vegetables, buckwheat, spices and tomato puree, and stir.

3. Disassemble the cooked cabbage into florets. Put the minced meat in each one and spread it thinly over half of the petal and cover with the other half. Put into the mold. Brush each layer with tomato puree. Cover the mold with foil and pierce the entire surface with a toothpick. Bake at 200 degrees for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes.
