Typically, cabbage is fermented with carrots, beets, bell peppers, apples, and even mushrooms. However, there is one more ingredient that is recommended to make this winter appetizer.

FoodOboz has gathered information and will tell you what ingredient you should add to sauerkraut.

Experienced housewives recommend adding cranberries to sauerkraut. The sweet and sour berry makes the taste of the salad interesting and refreshing. The benefits of sauerkraut with cranberries are doubled: the appetizer is enriched with minerals and especially vitamin C. In addition, cranberries act as a preservative.

However, it is not recommended to add too many berries to the dish. About 100 g of cranberries will be enough for 3 kg of cabbage. If you don't have fresh cranberries on hand, frozen ones will do just fine.
