Couscous is a healthy, hearty, and delicious cereal that can be cooked in different ways: with vegetables and meat. It's worth noting that you don't even have to cook it, just pour it over water.

Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko shared on his website tips on how to cook couscous so as not to spoil it.

How to cook couscous correctly

Tips from the chef:

1. Couscous should not be boiled, but steamed in a 1:1 ratio. And be sure to close the container where you steam the cereal with a lid.

"A little more or a little less water, and there is a chance that your porridge will be too watery or vice versa, it will not cook to the end and will crunch on your teeth. After pouring boiling water over the couscous, stir it with a fork," the cook explains.

2. Boiling water is essential for porridge, otherwise the couscous will not cook.

3. Couscous can be seasoned with butter or olive oil, as well as salt and spices, even before pouring boiling water.

After 5 minutes, you will get a completely ready-to-eat side dish.

4. Do not leave the steamed couscous for a long time, because the grains may stick together and the porridge will not be so crumbly, but in one piece.

5. To cook couscous, 5 minutes of infusion in boiling water is enough. After that, stir it with a fork, season with salt, pepper, and oil if you haven't done so before steaming.

What to cook couscous with:

Klopotenko advises using this cereal to make various salads, such as Tabbouleh, which takes 10 minutes to cook.
