Horseradish with beets in a new way: how to make a delicious spicy sauce

Many people like spicy horseradish with beets. But you can replace beets in the sauce with beet kvass - it turns out very unusual. The sauce can also be served with bacon, meat, jellied meat, sausage, and even spread on sandwiches.

Popular Ukrainian chef Anatoliy Dobrovolskiy (dobrovolskiy_hchef) shared a recipe for horseradish with beet kvass on his Instagram page.

Horseradish recipe with beet kvass

Ingredients:

  • white horseradish - 3 tbsp. l.
  • vegetable oil - 2 tbsp
  • salt
  • beetroot sourdough - 5-6 tbsp.
Spicy sauce with horseradish and beets

Method of preparation:

1. Grate the horseradish on a fine grater.

2. Mix horseradish, salt and oil. Stir until smooth.

3. Add beet kvass and mix again.

Recipe for beetroot kvass

Ingredients:

  • beets
  • water

Method of preparation:

1. Peel the beets and cut into medium slices. Fill the jar with beets.

2. Fill the jar with cold water. Cover with cheesecloth and put in a cool, dark place. After 3-4 days, the kvass should be ready, although it may be earlier - you need to check it periodically.

3. The kvass is ready when a bright pink film, similar to mold, appears. Carefully remove it and drain the kvass.

4. You can also fill the jar with water again and repeat the previous steps. You can do this several times.
