Heart-shaped cake for Valentine's Day: what to cook for February 14

On Valentine's Day, February 14, you can perfectly complement the romantic atmosphere with beautiful sweet pastries. Especially the ones made with your own hands. An exquisite valentine-shaped cake made of crispy dough, delicate cream, and lots of fruit will be the best expression of your feelings for your soul mate.

The idea of making a romantic cake was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Iryna Kharchyshyna (irisha_redko).

Ingredients for the cakes:

  • sugar – 80 g
  • eggs – 1 pc
  • honey – 40 g
  • butter – 50 g
  • soda – 1/2 tsp
  • flour – 250 g

Ingredients for the cream:

  • cream 33% – 150 g
  • mascarpone – 500 g
  • powdered sugar – 80 g

Method of preparation:

1. Put a saucepan on the stove, and pour honey, butter and sugar. The mixture should lighten and boil, but not turn into caramel.

2. Turn off the stove and let the mixture cool for 2-5 minutes. Add the egg and beat with a mixer for 5-10 minutes until a fluffy white mass is formed.

3. Add baking soda and mix with a whisk. Sift the flour and knead the dough.

4. Divide it into 4 equal parts. Sprinkle the parchment with flour and roll out the cakes. Cut out a heart, and bake each one for 3-5 minutes. Do the same with the other 3 parts.

5. Put the finished hearts on a flat surface.

6. Prepare the cream. Beat the cream, mascarpone, and powdered sugar at first on low speed, gradually increasing it. Put the cream into a pastry bag with a round nozzle.

7. Put the cream in neat balls 0.5 cm from the edge so that it does not overflow.

8. Pour mango puree over the cream, if desired, and put the next layer. Repeat with all of them.

9. Garnish the cake with berries, cookies, and chocolate as desired. Leave to stand for at least 12 hours.
