A dish originally from Georgia: what meat is used to make the world famous Chokhokhbili
Chokhokhbili is a national Georgian chicken dish. It combines notes of spice and freshness. The meat becomes very soft and tender thanks to tomato sauce and various spices.
The idea of cooking delicious Georgian Chokhokhbili was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Olha Riabenko(olga_riabenko_). Everything is stewed in a frying pan.
Ingredients:
- chicken - 1 pc.
- onion - 800 g
- tomato puree - 600 g
- tomato paste - 2 tbsp
- garlic - 3 cloves
- cilantro (or parsley) - 100 g
- dried basil - 1 tsp.
- suneli - 1 tsp.
- coriander - 1 tsp.
- sugar - 1 tsp.
- water - 150 ml.
- pepper, salt - to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the chicken into small pieces and fry until golden brown on both sides. Season with salt and pepper.
2. Take out the chicken and pour 75 milliliters of water into the pan in which the meat was fried.
3. Cut the onion into half rings and put it in a frying pan. Add salt.
4. Fry over low heat for 30 minutes.
5. Then put the chicken on top.
6. Using a blender, make a tomato puree, and add all the spices and tomato paste. Mix well and pour over the chicken in the pan.
7. Cover and cook over medium heat for 40 minutes.
8. Remove from heat and add finely chopped cilantro and garlic. Mix everything.
