"Let's be honest". Designer Karavanska commented on Olena Zelenska's fashion looks

The works of the famous designer Oksana Karavanska are in the wardrobes of many public Ukrainians. She was once one of the favorite designers of the first ladies of Ukraine, Kateryna Yushchenko and Maryna Poroshenko.

In an interview with OBOZ.UA, Oksana Karavanska analyzed the fashion style of the wife of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to the designer, Olena Zelenska dresses impeccably.

"It's hard for me to comment on such things," Oksana Karavanska responds to a request to review Zelenska's fashion choices, "I'd even say that I don't like to do it, because I'm more of a designer than a stylist or critic. And, frankly, I don't really follow who is wearing what. I follow more what is happening in the fashion world than in the world of those who wear it. However, if we talk about Olena Zelenska, I would like to note that she dresses beautifully. It's just flawless. There are no questions or comments to her at all."

When asked what makes Zelenska's wardrobe so unmistakable and skillful - is it her natural taste or the merit of her stylists, the designer replied: "Let's be honest. Very professional stylists always work with first ladies. So, it's hard for me to say whether it's her personal style or the competent presentation of her fashion assistants. I don't know such subtleties because it's behind the scenes."

As you know, designer Natalia Kamenska has been working as First Lady Olena Zelenska's stylist for three years now.

A year ago, in an interview with Ukrainian Elle, Kamenska spoke about her collaboration and relationship with Zelenska: "I maintain subordination in my communication, and I think we have a very good and open relationship. We have no quarrels, we discuss different opinions. When I took office, Olena Volodymyrivna had a rather small wardrobe: just a few rails of clothes and ten pairs of shoes. And I was sincerely surprised by this position. I remember her saying: "I don't need a lot of clothes. I don't want to wear something new every day. On the contrary, I want a smart wardrobe where things are well combined with each other."

According to media reports, it was with the beginning of her collaboration with Kamenska that the President's wife's style gained elegant perfection and integrity. But Zelenska chooses her outfits for everyday life without the help of a stylist. "She dresses herself. But if I see some cool jeans or a jacket, I can offer it to her. Or when I buy a hoodie for myself, I can buy it for her. Olena dresses very freely, she likes oversize, but she is always open to experiments," says Kamenska.

And in a recent interview with The New York Times, Natalia Kamenska answered the question of why Zelenska needs a stylist when her country is at war: "For us, fashion is another tool to talk about Ukrainians, designers, and talent. It's an easy way to talk about much more serious things at large public events, when the first lady needs to use every detail to support her cause."
