"I am inspired by your courage": Vikings star Katheryn Winnick talks to Ukrainians who lost their homes due to war
Famous Canadian actress, director and producer of Ukrainian descent Katheryn Winnick talked to Ukrainians whose homes were destroyed by the Russian occupiers. The star of the world-famous TV series Vikings is raising funds to rebuild these homes as part of the UNITED24 global platform's Rebuilding Ukraine program, of which she is an ambassador.
The online meeting was joined by 10 residents of the Kyiv region who were left homeless after Russia's full-scale invasion. Their stories moved Catherine to tears. She said she would do everything possible to help her fellow countrymen. This was reported to OBOZ.UA by the UNITED24 press service (scroll to the bottom of the page to see photos and videos).
Ukrainians told the world celebrity about the first days of the full-scale war, evacuation, returning home after de-occupation, and restoring their destroyed homes.

One of the participants of the meeting, Yana Psareva, shared that she had already lost her home twice because of Russian aggression. First, it was Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast, and eight years later, Irpin in Kyiv region.
"On February 24, we saw the bombing of the Gostomel airport and packed a suitcase 30 minutes later. It was the same suitcase with which we left Donetsk," Yana recalled.
Her story, as well as the stories of other Ukrainians, brought Vynnyk to tears. She admitted that she felt for each story as if it had happened to her personally and promised to do as much as she could to help.

"I have played a defender in movies, but you do it not on the screen, but in real life. I am inspired by your courage and motivated to do even more for Ukraine's victory," the filmmaker said.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the national scouting organization Plast. As it turned out, Katheryn was also a Plast member until she was 17.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, in May of this year, Katheryn Winnick visited the long-suffering Irpin. She talked to the mayor of the city and saw the consequences of Russian terror with her own eyes. The star also could not hold back her tears.
