How to get rid of makeup stains on clothes: 7 tips

Cosmetics on clothes can be a real problem, especially on white things

Modern cosmetics can boast of great staying power. When it comes to makeup, that's a definite plus. But if these products get on your clothes, such as the collar of a white blouse, removing the stain can be a real problem.

OBOZREVATEL decided how to act if you stained your clothes with makeup. And what are the means to remove its traces from fabrics?

Time is playing against you

The first thing to remember is that the sooner you treat the stain, the easier it will be to remove it completely. So don't hesitate to clean as soon as you notice the problem.

Soak it in, but don't rub it

The main rule against fresh stains is never to rub them. That way you'll only rub the dirt deeper into the fibers. So take a dry paper towel and gently blot whatever the paper can absorb from the surface of the fabric.

Do not use hot water

Hot water will not help in the fight against cosmetic stains. Dyes, as a rule, from such a treatment only penetrate deeper into the fibers. Therefore, wash and soak such stains can only be done in cool water.

Makeup remover

Colorless, non-fat-based makeup removers work well with fabrics as well. They can be used to remove stains from liquid or cream products. Put a few drops of the liquid on a cotton pad or stick and blot the stain. The product should gradually gently dissolve the cosmetics.

Dishwashing liquid

The dishwashing liquid should work in a similar way. The main condition is the same - it must be colorless. Apply a few drops of such a liquid on the stain and gently beat it with your fingers. Leave it for a few minutes, then rinse the thing under cool water and send it to the wash.

Baking soda

A pasty mixture of baking soda and water can remove some stains. Mix the powder and clean water and apply the paste to the stain. After a few minutes, it should noticeably lighten. Then you can wash the thing as usual.

White vinegar

A 1:1 mixture of water and white vinegar is a fairly versatile stain remover. It can also cope with cosmetic dyes. Apply the mixture to the stain and leave it to work for a few minutes. After rinsing, the thing can be washed immediately.
