Ukraine's armed forces will be able to launch a counteroffensive in 2025, but there are conditions. This will be possible if Ukraine increases its mobilization capabilities and Western partners provide more weapons and do so much faster.

This opinion was expressed by Max Boot, Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, in his article for The Washington Post. He believes that with the increased mobilization and accelerated supply of Western weapons, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not only defend their positions but will also be able to launch offensive operations.

Booth emphasizes that the coming months will be very challenging for Ukraine as it continues to defend its positions and rebuild the energy infrastructure destroyed by the war.

In his opinion, the West mustn't waver in its support for Ukraine, as it is the Ukrainians who are currently fighting the hardest part of the war.

"We have difficult months ahead of us as Ukraine struggles to hold its front lines and rebuild its destroyed energy infrastructure. The West must show that it will not waver in its support. Ukrainians, who are bearing the brunt of this terrible conflict, certainly do not hesitate," the author noted.

The expert also drew attention to the importance for Ukraine to learn how to provide itself with equipment and weapons, as foreign aid can be unstable. He reminds that the US Congress has been deciding on the $61 billion aid package for several months, and there is no guarantee that the next package will be approved. The situation may worsen if Donald Trump becomes president again, as he refused to support Ukraine during the debates.

In addition, the Washington Post article notes that the United States should allow Ukraine to use American weapons to strike at Russian territory. This, according to the columnist, will be an effective step to deter Russian aggression and will allow Ukraine to launch an active counteroffensive next year.

As a reminder, the administration of US President Joe Biden is in dialogue with Ukraine to authorize an increase in the depth of strikes on Russian territory. However, no new decisions have been made, and negotiations on this issue are still ongoing.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, according to Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh, the US position on allowing the use of ATACMS missiles to strike deep into Russia has not changed. At the same time, she emphasized that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have other long-range weapons for such strikes, which were not provided by Washington.

Mykhailo Podoliak, advisor to the head of the Presidential Administration, explained that by the phrase "strikes deep into Russia," Ukraine does not mean demonstrating isolated explosions in Russia, but rather the systematic destruction of Russian air bases and military production facilities. The right strategy involves weakening the aggressor country in three ways.
