The occupants attacked Ukraine with drones at night: air defense forces shot down six Shaheds and two Merlin

On May 23, Ukraine's air defense forces repulsed another attempt by the Russian occupiers to attack our regions with Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones. The enemy launched six such UAVs, all of which were neutralized.

The work of the sky defenders was first reported by the General Staff of the AFU. Note that Tuesday night was accompanied by a massive aerial disturbance, at which time several drones, including reconnaissance drones, were shot down in the south of the country.

The military stressed that the Russian Federation continues to wage an invasive war, does not stop strikes, and shells not only military, but also civilian objects in Ukraine.

"Preliminarily, this night the enemy engaged for strikes up to four Shaheds, all shot down. The information is being clarified," the message reads.

Air Command South reported that two Russian drones were shot down in the sky over the Mykolaiv region.

"On the night of May 23, the forces and means of air defense of the air command "South" destroyed two enemy strike UAVs Shahed-136/131 in the Mykolaiv region," the message said.

They also stressed that the night before, the defenders shot down a Merlin-BP reconnaissance drone of the occupants in Kherson Region.

According to the Air Force of the AFU, eight enemy drones were destroyed in different directions this night, including six Shahed-136/131 strike drones and two Merlin-BP reconnaissance drones.

Note: After the massive enemy air attack on the night of May 22, Natalia Gumenyuk, head of the United Coordinating Press Center of the Defense Forces in southern Ukraine, said that such Russian shelling would continue to be carried out.

According to her, war criminals from Russia with such attacks are trying to trace the directions of the Ukrainian air defense in order to deplete it.
