Occupants are planning another provocation at ZNPP: Main Directorate of Intelligence told what to expect

Russian Federation may be preparing a provocation at Zaporizhzhya NPP

Russian invaders are planning to organize an armed provocation at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, during which heavy weapons may be used. The occupants are now preparing simulated shelling of the strategic facility, which they will try to pass off as an attempt to "storm" the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

This was reported in the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Intelligence officers added that most likely the provocation will take place before the end of July.

"Probably in the near future the occupants are planning to organize another armed provocation on the territory of Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. For this purpose, the FSB "military counterintelligence department" is distributing information among the personnel of the occupation contingent about the alleged preparation by the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces of an assault on the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant," the report says.

The invaders most likely chose the end of July to simulate an "assault": this is the time the Russian security service calls it.

The invaders also claim that their fictitious "assault" will allegedly involve "assault groups" and "volunteer armed units of Ukraine," which, however, the enemy does not name.

"Replication of such information may indicate that the occupants are preparing an operation "under someone else's flag", which will lead to a large-scale accident at ZNPP. According to available information, they are preparing another imitation shelling of the plant in order to further accuse Ukraine of them," the Main Directorate of Intelligence said.

Military intelligence recalled that Europe's largest nuclear power plant was occupied by Russian troops back on March 4, 2022. Since then, the invaders have been replacing the territory of the facility, several power units and the cooling pond of ZNPP.

"The irresponsible actions of the Rashists have repeatedly led to violations of nuclear safety standards and the creation of emergency situations at Europe's largest nuclear facility. Such actions are an obvious act of nuclear terrorism. Ukraine has repeatedly stated that only the return of ZNPP under the full control of Ukraine and the IAEA, as well as the creation of a wide demilitarized zone around the plant, is able to guarantee the safe operation of the nuclear plant," the Main Directorate of Intelligence said.

We will remind, earlier in the military intelligence of Ukraine warned that the occupants carried out mining of ZNPP and objects on the territory of the plant. Delivery of mines and explosives to the station was recorded.

In particular, mine-explosive barriers made of guided and unguided anti-personnel mines of directional type are fixed in technical rooms and machine halls of the station.

It was also reported that the occupants use the station to store ammunition. According to the Zaporizhzhya regional military administration, about 500 Russians - military and Rosatom employees - are now at the Zaporizhzhya NPP.

As of July 17, according to the state enterprise National Nuclear Power Generation Company Energoatom, the Russians continued to mine the ZNPP, so the threat of disaster has not decreased in the slightest.
