Instead of caviar sandwiches: an original pancake appetizer for the festive table
Red caviar is an integral part of the New Year's celebration. This product is spread on croutons or tartlets. But there is a much better idea. You can put the caviar on top of pancakes with cream cheese – it will be very attractive and satisfying.
The idea of making snails from pancakes with caviar was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Yuliia Senych (yuliia.senych). The dough for the products is ordinary, the same as you cook.
Ingredients for pancakes:
- milk (barely warm) – 500 ml.
- eggs – 3 pcs.
- sugar – 2 tbsp
- flour – 1.5 cups (220 g)
- vegetable oil – 2-3 tbsp
- a pinch of salt
- butter or lard for frying
Ingredients for the filling:
- cream cheese + red caviar
Method of preparation:
1. Combine the eggs with sugar and salt and add half of the total weight of the sifted flour.
2. Mix well with a whisk and pour in the slightly warm milk.
3. It is important to do these steps in such an order that the pancakes do not have lumps.
4. Add the rest of the sifted flour.
5. Stir until combined and pour in the remaining milk.
6. Finally, add the oil, mix, and leave the dough to rest for 15 minutes.
7. At this time, you can heat the pans until very hot.
8. Put a piece of butter and you can start frying pancakes.
9. Fry the pancakes over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes on each side.
10. Divide each pancake in half, grease the pancake with cream cheese on one side, and roll it into a roll.
11. If desired, cut off the edges of the pancake and roll it into a snail.
12. Fix the pancake with a toothpick to keep its shape and top it with cream cheese and caviar.
