Marinated mackerel in adjika is an original appetizer that captivates with its bright taste and pleasant spiciness. A special feature of this recipe is the heat treatment of the marinade, which allows the ingredients to better reveal their flavors and provides a delicate texture of the fish.

The idea of cooking marinated mackerel in a delicious adjika marinade was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Maria Makarchuk (makarchuk food). The fish will simply melt in your mouth.

Ingredients:

  • vinegar 9% - 100 ml.
  • vegetable oil - 150 ml.
  • adjika - 2 tbsp.
  • sugar - 15 g
  • salt - 10 g
  • onions - 3 pcs
  • mackerel - 2 pieces (approximately 1 kg)

Method of preparation:

1. Clean the mackerel: remove the head, entrails, and fins.

2. Rinse the fish thoroughly with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

3. Cut into 2-3 cm thick slices.

4. Peel the onion and cut into thin rings.

5. Combine vinegar, oil, adjika, sugar, and salt in a saucepan.

6. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to dissolve the salt and sugar.

7. As soon as the marinade comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly (until warm).

8. Put a layer of onions in a deep bowl, then a layer of mackerel.

9. Pour the warm marinade over the fish.

10. Repeat the layers until you run out of ingredients, with a layer of onions on top.

11. Cover the container with a lid or cling film.

12. Place in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours. The longer the mackerel is marinated, the richer its flavor will be.
