Stainless steel cookware is considered versatile and is widely used both at home and in restaurants. Its attractive appearance, durability, and ease of maintenance make it one of the most popular choices among chefs. However, there are foods that are not recommended for cooking in such cookware, as this can affect the quality of the food and even lead to damage to the cookware.

The FoodOboz editorial team suggests that you familiarize yourself with the list of ingredients that should be avoided when cooking in stainless steel cookware. The reasons are quite good.

1. Acidic foods: tomato sauce, citrus juices and vinegar

Stainless steel can react with acidic foods, especially when in prolonged contact. This can lead to stains or streaks on the surface. When cooking sour foods, nickel and chromium can be released from the cookware, which has a negative impact on health. For such products, it is better to use enameled, cast iron or non-stick cookware.

2. Eggs

Even if you grease the pan with oil, eggs often stick to the surface of the stainless steel. This makes it difficult to cook eggs or omelets and makes the process of washing the dishes more complicated. The best option for eggs is non-stick pans or specially treated cast iron cookware.

3. Pancakes

Pancakes need a flat and smooth surface that allows for easy flipping and maintains their integrity. Stainless steel is not suitable for this task - the dough sticks and the pancakes tear. For perfect pancakes, it is better to choose cast iron or non-stick pans.

4. Fish

Tender fish fillets often stick to the surface of stainless steel cookware. This not only makes it difficult to flip, but also spoils the appearance of the dish. Use non-stick cookware or specially prepared cast iron for frying fish.

5. Steak and other meats

Although stainless steel can withstand high temperatures, it does not provide the crispy crust that grilling does. In addition, grilling allows you to use less oil, which makes the dish healthier. For cooking steaks, it is better to choose a grill pan or cast iron skillet.
