"Why does he forget about it?" In Russia, the British Olympic champion is demanded to return the gold of the 80th Olympics in Moscow

Zhurova lashes out at Coe

Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova has made a ridiculous demand of the President of the International Federation of Athletics (World Athletics) Sebastian Coe. The State Duma deputy and an accomplice of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime called on the British man to return the gold medal he won at the 1980 Games in Moscow because of his categorical stance against the aggressor country.

Zhurova said this in an interview with Metaratings.ru. The former figure skater was outraged by Coe's latest statement, which promised to prevent Russian athletes from participating in international tournaments even in a neutral status, and accused him of destroying Russian sport.

"Coe is consistent in his statements. This is the position of the Anglo-Saxon world. On the other hand, Coe won Olympic medals at the 1980 Games in Moscow. Why does he forget about this? He forgets about how he and all British athletes in general were welcomed in our country. If Coe is so consistent and dislikes Russia so much, he should return the medals he won at the 1980 Olympics. But he won't do it, he won't give the medals. I feel very sorry for Russian athletics. Coe wants to shoot our athletics, kill it, and it is a very medal-intensive sport," Zhurova said.

It is interesting that Coe participated in the 1980 Games despite the boycott of the Moscow Olympics by Western countries, for which he was elevated to the rank of hero in the USSR. The ardent fan of the war against Ukraine "forgot" about this. The Briton is one of the main contenders for the post of the new president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian athlete Maria Lasitskene categorically opposed the arrival of World Athletics head Sebastian Coe as IOC president.
