"What espionage at 20?!" Russian Olympic champion fumed over arrest of Russian hockey player in Poland

Two-time Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova called the arrest of a Russian hockey player in Poland for espionage "an attempt to demonize the image of an athlete" from Russia. The State Duma deputy also suspected Ukraine's allies of the crimes that law enforcement officers in the aggressor country regularly commit: planting drugs and convicting people in fake cases.

Zhurova let it slip in a commentary for Sport24. She was outraged that the Poles suspected a "guy in his twenties" of espionage, and said the accusations of hockey player Maxim S., whom the media have already identified as the player of "Zaglembe" Sosnowiec Maxim Sergeyev, were strange.

"What kind of espionage in Poland from a guy in his twenties?! It's not even funny. Very strange accusations that were made for the sake of preventive measures. This is yet another signal from the West that the Russians should not come here. Otherwise they will be accused of espionage and of planting drugs or something similar. I see this as yet another signal from unfriendly countries. They are trying by all means to demonize the image of Russian athletes so that we will not be allowed into the Olympics for a very long time," Zhurova said.

It should be noted that the hockey player became the 14th detained Russian, who in Poland are accused of participation in an organized criminal group and activities for foreign intelligence.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, former head coach of the Ukrainian national team from Russia Andrei Nazarov called to "always support" the dictator Vladimir Putin.
