Rodnina speaks out about blocking YouTube

Irina Rodnina, a three-time Olympic champion, explained the need to block YouTube in Russia by saying that "we can't really teach people to draw conclusions." The so-called State Duma deputy was also outraged that the issue of access to video hosting caused outrage among Russians.

Rodnina said this in an interview with the Sport24 portal. The accomplice of the dictatorial regime of Vladimir Putin also indirectly confirmed that the Russian authorities simply intend to increase the influence and scope of state propaganda by closing access to alternative sources of information.

YouTube may be blocked in Russia

"The situation with YouTube means that we can't really teach people how to draw conclusions. We also have a lot of people doing the wrong thing: using the means of communication not for education, but for personal purposes and certain propaganda. If something is done with YouTube, it will be widely discussed. Today in Russia, no high-profile project goes through without a heated discussion among experts and the public. Probably, those who watch how borscht is cooked can win," Rodnina said.

The day before, it became known that the Russian authorities require telecom operators to slow down the speed of video playback on YouTube to 128 kilobits per second using specialized equipment.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, problems with access to YouTube in Russia have been occurring since August 1.
