Attempt to stab with scissors of Russian figure skating vice-champion in St. Petersburg subway

Vladislav Dikidzhi, silver medalist of the Russian Figure Skating Championships and vice-champion of Russia in jumping, was attacked in the St. Petersburg metro between the Chornaya Rechka and Pionerskaya stations. According to the athlete, he was calmly traveling about his business when an unknown elderly man sat down and pulled his bag. When the skater got up from the seat, the stranger put a knife to his throat.

"The knife was quite close to my throat. I think I would have reacted a little later and that's it," the athlete wrote on his Telegram channel.

At the nearest station, the 19-year-old figure skater managed to run out of the train. The attacker was later detained.

According to preliminary data, he was a 60-year-old service engineer for a large water transport maintenance and operation company, a man named Ivan Yuktenko. About four hours later, he was detained in his apartment. During the search, scissors were seized from the man (the skater initially thought it was a knife).

An administrative report was drawn up against the suspect under Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of Russia (disorderly conduct). Commenting on his actions, he stated that he was trying to make room for a woman standing next to him. The issue of opening a criminal case is being decided.
