Will live in luxury: famous athlete Pistorius цфі released from prison after killing supermodel
Six-time Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius has been released early from prison, where he spent nine years after the murder of his girlfriend and photo model Reeva Steenkamp in 2013. The athlete will be under constant surveillance, and is prohibited from communicating with the press and drinking alcohol.
This was reported by AP News. According to the agency, the 37-year-old South African was granted parole in November, a request he made for the second time. Until 2029, Pistorius will live in his uncle's luxurious mansion in the prestigious Pretoria suburb of Waterkloof.
Pistorius will not wear any monitoring devices, but he will be monitored by officials from the South African Department of Corrections. The former athlete will be able to leave the house only with the permission of the authorities.
Oscar Pistorius was a true symbol of the Paralympians. As a child, both his legs were amputated below the knee due to a congenital disease, but he did not break down and started playing sports. In 2012, the South African made history in world sports by participating in the 2012 Olympics on a par with healthy athletes in the 400-meter dash, reaching the semifinals.
On February 14, 2013, Pistorius shot and killed 29-year-old Stenkamp in the bathroom. The athlete allegedly thought that robbers had broken into the house and opened fire. He was taken into custody in 2014, then released on house arrest on appeal in 2015 and sent back to prison in 2016.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the famous Canadian figure skater with Danish roots, Nikolaj Sørensen was accused of raping a US figure skater, whose name was not disclosed.
