"Why should we speak out loud?" Belarus' No.1 doesn't understand statements against the war in Ukraine

Belarusian top-ranked player Arina Sobolenko does not consider it necessary to actively speak out against the war in Ukraine. The winner of the Australian Open 2023, who had beaten Ukrainian Marta Kostiuk at the start of Roland Garros the day before, said that such statements are as clear as the fact that one plus one equals two.

The fan of the dictator Alexander Lukashenko said this at a press conference after the match against Kostiuk, writes the portal "Big Tennis Ukraine". She also added that she was not surprised by the behaviour of the Ukrainian woman, who refused to shake hands with her opponent from the aggressor country.

"As for the situation with the war, I have already said many, many times: no one in this world, whether Russian athletes or Belarusian athletes, supports the war. No one. How can we support the war? None of the normal people will ever support it. Why do we have to loudly declare and say such things... It's like one plus one equals two. Of course, we do not support the war. If I could somehow influence the war, if I could kind of stop it, we would do it. But, unfortunately, it's not in our hands. It's up to the Ukrainians. I understand why they don't shake hands with us," Sobolenko said.

Earlier, she spoke cynically about her relationship with Ukrainian tennis players and the war in our country.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostiuk was booed after her match with Arina Sobolenko at Roland Garros after refusing to shake hands with the Belarusian.
