Ukraine was not supported: the decision on Russia's admission to the 2024 Paralympics was made
Russian athletes will be able to compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. The athletes from the aggressor country were allowed to compete in a neutral status - without the national flag and anthem.
The corresponding decision was made at the General Assembly of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), according to the organization's official website. It is noted that the decision applies only to individual sports, and Russians will not compete in team events at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
At the same time, the IPC General Assembly extended the partial suspension of Russia's membership in the organization until 2025. At the same time, Ukraine's proposal to completely expel the aggressor country from the IPC was not supported. 74 votes were against and 65 votes were in favor of our initiative.
In addition to the Paralympic Games, Russians will be able to compete at the World and European Championships, but Russia will not be able to organize and host competitions on its territory.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov was afraid of the "eternal" suspension of athletes from Russia from international competitions.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach criticized Ukraine's participation in the 2024 Olympic Games.
