"These scoundrels. Bastards": Russian Olympic champion attacked Ukrainians with insults, inventing fakes
Two-time Olympic champion Oleksandr Kozhevnikov is furious over the Ukrainian Canadian Congress' demand that Pavel Datsyuk not be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in November this year, but our compatriots consider it inappropriate in light of Russia's aggression.
In an interview with the VseProSport portal, Kozhevnikov went on a rampage and started insulting and calling Ukrainians names. In addition, he voiced fakes about the history of our people, saying that our compatriots emigrated to Canada in the 1950s under Nikita Khrushchev.
"I think the final decision will be influenced primarily by the NHL, not the diaspora, although it is quite strong there. You can definitely expect nasty things from them, they did them in our time when we played. The Ukrainian diaspora often insulted us, but what can you do if they are such bastards and Russophobes. These scoundrels all went there thanks to Khrushchev (in fact, Ukrainians appeared in Canada in the 1890s, and during Khrushchev's rule, the Soviet government, on the contrary, tried to return our compatriots to the USSR - ed.) But I don't think there will be anything wrong with Datsyuk being inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame. The league treats Pavel with great respect," the former hockey player said.
Earlier, he called some participants of the World Ice Hockey Championship, which took place in the Czech Republic in May and ended with the victory of the host team, Papuans.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, two-time Olympic biathlon champion Dmitry Vasilyev became a laughingstock after he called the return of the Russian Federation flag to world competitions inevitable.
