The unique Russian world champion was afraid of the question about Ukraine
NHL club goalie of the Florida Panthers and Russian national hockey team Sergei Bobrovsky did not answer the question about the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russians during a press conference on the Stanley Cup finals. The only Russian goalie to win the NHL's best regular-season goaltender award twice, the Vezina Trophy (2013, 2017), changed the subject when he heard our country's name.
"Right now our focus is on hockey. And it's not about politics or what's going on at your job. You know, it's a big hockey holiday - the Stanley Cup Finals. I've never been here before, and I want to take this opportunity to enjoy the moment," 34-year-old Bobrovsky was quoted by Sportsnet.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, a few years ago Bobrovsky, as one of the best goalies of the current NHL season, refused to play for the Russian national team at the 2017 World Hockey Championship.
The Columbus goalie attributed his decision to a "factor complex," noting that the Tri-Color coaching staff expressed satisfaction with this development.
