Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh has admitted that she thought about ending her career after a wave of negative publicity over her photo with Russian Maria Lasitskene at the 2020 Olympics. According to the world record holder in high jumping, her coaches and family helped her to overcome the stress.

Mahuchikh said this in an interview with the YouTube channel of the famous TV presenter Masha Yefrosynina. The 23-year-old athlete from Dnipro emphasized that she has learned to accept this situation, as it cannot be erased from her life and cannot be changed in any way.

"I have become more psychologically resistant to hate. People always hate, regardless of whether you do something or not. It was a difficult moment. My coach told me that if you want to quit sports, you already have a bronze medal at the Olympics. It came to this. It was hard for me to survive the negative feedback. I went through it all. It's in the past, it's here, I can't change it," Mahuchikh said.

Earlier, Yaroslava told us what nonsense Russians wrote to her after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. She also answered questions about her communication with the representative of Cyprus, Olena Kulichenko.
