MMA fighter killed a "hero of the special military operation" with one punch in Russia
In the Chelyabinsk region, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Rustam Bayzhumenov killed former Russian Interior Ministry employee Maxim Nikitin. The victim's daughter wrote about the incident on one of the Russian social networks.
On September 16, Nikitin came to a cafe to meet with classmates in the village of Novokaolinovy, Kartalinsky district, where Baizhumenov was also located.
At some point, the athlete quarreled with a woman present there and started pulling her hair. The "veteran of the special military operation" tried to defend himself, but was hit in the throat, which led to a fractured larynx.
Nikitin lost consciousness and hit his head on the sidewalk when he fell. The Interior Ministry officer was hospitalized in Kartaly, where he underwent surgery. A day later, the former soldier died without regaining consciousness.
Rustam was left free under his own recognizance. His case was classified under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "Causing death by negligence," under which the suspect faces up to 2 years in prison.
"Maxim was a combat veteran, had experience in the Wagner Group and participated in missions in the Central African Republic (CAR). For his service, he received numerous awards, including the 'For the Capture of Popasna', the 'Cross' from the Wagner Group, and the 'For Courage from the President of Russia'," Russian Telegram channels praise the deceased.
