The famous goalkeeper made a frank confession

Belgian goalkeeper of Real Madrid and the main competitor of Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrii Lunin for a place in the starting lineup of the Madrid club Thibaut Courtois announced that he will not play in his national team under the current head coach Domenico Tedesco. In June last year, there was a conflict between Courtois and Tedesco, as a result of which Thibaut unexpectedly left the location of the team before the Euro 2024 qualifying match with Estonia.

On his Instagram, the 32-year-old Belgian addressed all his compatriots who are fans, admitting that he is very proud to represent the country on the pitch.

"Unfortunately, after a conversation with the coach and much reflection, I have decided not to return to the Belgium national team under his leadership. I accept my share of responsibility in this matter. However, looking ahead, I will say that my distrust in him would not have contributed to the necessary atmosphere," admitted Courtois.

According to the Belgian goalkeeper, he has discussed his position with the Belgian Football Federation on several occasions.

The federation accepts my position and the reasons that led me to this painful but logical decision. "I regret that I may have disappointed some fans, but I am convinced that this is the best option for the national team, as it will end the discussion and allow the team to focus on achieving its goals," the Real Madrid goalkeeper wrote on social media.
