The final match took place in Essen

The Ukrainian national socca team has won silver for the first time in its history at the World Championship, which was held from 2 to 11 June in Essen, Germany. In the final, Vitaliy Melnyk's charges lost to Kazakhstan 1:2 in a series of penalty shootouts. The regular time ended in a 2-2 draw.

Socca is a kind of indoor soccer, where each team consists of 6 players. Regulation of the match is two halves of 20 minutes each. In contrast to mini-football, the size of the field and the number of players are different.

The Ukrainians started the game unsuccessfully, conceding two goals. Only at the end of the half our compatriots were able to pull themselves together and thanks to Melnik's efforts cut the gap.

After the break, Ukraine staged a real assault and the same Andriy Melnyk from Kyiv's Glust scored a double.

In the shootout the Kazakhs showed themselves more confident.

Ukraine - Kazakhstan - 2:2 (1:2 by shootout).

Goals: Melnik, 18, 37 - Yelemesov, 9; Murzabekov, 13.

In the group stage, the Yellow and Blue finished in first place, taking turns beating Egypt (5-0), Kazakhstan (6-2) and Libya (10-2). In the playoffs, Ukraine was stronger than Albania (3-1), Morocco (3-1) and Croatia (1-0).

Our national team debuted at the Socca World Cup last year. Then the Ukrainians were defeated in the quarterfinals by Germany (3:8).
