In May of this year, the Latvian Foreign Minister ran 21 kilometers in the Riga Marathon to raise money for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Thanks in particular to Baiba Braže, they managed to raise more than 12 thousand euros for drones for the Ukrainian army.

And a month before, as OBOZ.UA wrote, a Poltava rescuer ran 21 km holding portraits of his fallen colleagues from Kharkiv . This happened as part of a large-scale charity race, the Kyiv Invincibility Half Marathon, which raised funds for combat medics from the Hospitallers Medical Volunteer Battalion. Rescuer Andriy Grechanyi ran the half marathon course in full gear. He wanted to remind us that the Kharkiv rescuers whose photos he held in his hands while running died saving the lives of Ukrainians.

And in the United States, the Boston Marathon was taking place at almost the same time: a 12-year-old Ukrainian girl, Yana Stepanenko, who lost both her legs after a Russian missile attack on the railway station in Kramatorsk in April 2022, took part in it.

The girl was able to cover a distance of 5 km on prostheses. She did this to help raise funds for a sports prosthesis for Oleksandr Ryasnyi, who participated in the ATO/JFO and, after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, fought in the Zaporizhzhia sector, where he lost his right leg.
