The sixteenth iPhones will have significantly improved camera sensors

The camera has long been the main function of a smartphone. Just look at the description of the characteristics of any such gadget. Camera capabilities will definitely be one of the first to go there. That's why we are always so interested in camera updates in the next generation of smartphones. And it looks like the iPhone 16 will have something to surprise its customers.

According to Forbes, at least the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is due out this fall, will have an improved sensor in the main camera. And it will not be just an improved version of the existing sensor, but something really new.

Why is this important? In particular, because an increase in the number of megapixels will not make any sense if it is not accompanied by decent-sized pixels. Larger dots can absorb more light and thus render images more accurately. Therefore, a better sensor often results in higher photo quality than just more megapixels.

A report about the sixteenth iPhone line that got into the hands of bloggers promises that both the Pro and Pro Max versions will be equipped with 48-megapixel cameras. At the same time, they will both offer 5x zoom. But the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a multi-level design that promises the best shooting performance. In particular, it will have a better analog-to-digital converter built in and will implement improved noise control.

But the key will be the change in sensor size. From the size of 1/1.28 inches used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro, it will increase by 12% to 1/1.14 inches. This should result in a significant improvement in low-light shooting quality, as well as a greater dynamic range and improved background blurring for bokeh effects. At the same time, the thickness of the gadget itself will not change. More details about the new model should be available later this year.
