What cars are absolutely not suitable for the village: four new models are named

Living in rural areas implies special requirements for vehicles. The vehicle must have high cross-country ability, be able to cope well with long winding roads, potholes, hills, gravel, etc. At the same time, it should be economical in operation.

While each rural resident's requirements and budget may vary greatly, there are still vehicles that are hard to call suitable for such conditions. GoBankingRates has named four of them.

Ferrari Roma

For many car owners, price and economy are the main factors in choosing a car. The 2024 Ferrari Roma is refined and sporty, but it's also far from the most fuel-efficient car. This coupe has a 612-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It consumes 14 liters of fuel per 100 km of travel in the city and 10.5 liters on the highway. However, at the same time, the model should move fast enough. The top speed of the Ferrari Roma is 320 km/h, and the car accelerates to 100 km/h in about 3.1 seconds. Why such fantastic performance on a rural road is difficult to say.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

This electric car is much more economical than any other luxury car and even than most other electric-powered cars. It is also stylish and provides good performance. The base model has 149 horsepower and comes with a single electric motor for the rear wheels, although you can choose other options. For example, you can get the Long Range battery or a 225 or 320 horsepower version. The reason why the Hyundai Ioniq 6 made this list is because it's electric. You're unlikely to find enough charging stations for it in the backcountry.

Porsche 911

The 2025 Porsche 911 is a luxury sports car with a new T-Hybrid powertrain based on a 3.6-liter opposition engine. If you opt for the Carrera version, you get a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder with 388 horsepower. What's not a workhorse? But the downside to this car for rural use is that it's a two-seater. You can opt for a two plus two seat configuration, but that still won't be enough for typical rural needs.

Rivian R1T

Having a pickup truck in a rural area is ideal, whichever way you look at it. But the Rivian R1T 2024 edition is still unlikely to be a good choice. Not least because of the need to charge it periodically. Yes, this car has a fast charging option and three battery packs to choose from. The standard one will be enough for 435km of autonomous driving, the extended one for 565km and the maximum one for 660km. However, the limited infrastructure for electric cars in rural areas is unlikely to make traveling on it really comfortable.
