Tourists will be paid fabulous money for moving to Tuscany: who is eligible to receive 30 thousand euros

Buying a house in the countryside of Tuscany, Italy, is one of the dream goals of many people, but real estate in this region is notoriously expensive. However, if you do not hesitate, a new offer will help you achieve your goal.

The regional government of Tuscany has announced that it will pay people up to 30 thousand euros (over 1.3 million hryvnias) for moving to mountain towns whose population is declining. This was reported by EuroNews.

Across Italy, villages are facing a demographic crisis. As residents move to cities in search of career opportunities, small communities are left with abandoned houses and stagnant economies. Recently, representatives of local councils have come up with a solution: to increase the number of residents, they plan to organize a real estate sale for just 1 euro.

In Tuscany, the authorities have decided to pay people to live in difficult communities. Under a new scheme called "Residence in the Mountains 2024," applicants will receive from 10 thousand to 30 thousand euros to buy a house.

However, it must be a mountain town in a region with a population of less than 5,000 residents. In addition, the financial contribution may not exceed 50 percent of the cost of purchasing and renovating the property.

The Tuscan mountains are "areas of unique beauty with villages suffering from depopulation," said Stefania Saccardi, regional vice president of Tuscany, "so the decision to live in one of these municipalities is a challenge and an opportunity, especially for young people, as well as a chance for a new life.

The caveat is that there are strict conditions for those eligible to apply for the grant. Candidates must be Italian citizens or citizens of another European Union country or non-EU countries, but have a residence permit for at least 10 years. They must also be registered as residents of an Italian city, but not reside in a mountain community (according to the category of the Italian National Institute of Statistics). Applications can be submitted using the online form on the website of the Tuscany region until 13:00 on July 27, CET.
