Pukhkenyky, yamky or dolky: how to make traditional Ukrainian donuts
Pampukhs are called differently in each region of Ukraine. In any case, pampukhs, pukhkenyky, yamky, dolky, or donuts are a dish that must be present on the festive table on Christmas Eve.
Chef Olha Martynovska shared how to make traditional Ukrainian donuts on Instagram. She claims that by making donuts on a regular weekday, you will definitely be able to bring the whole family to the table.
Ingredients
- Milk - 125 ml
- Eggs - 2 pcs
- Sugar - 3 tbsp
- Vanilla sugar
- Salt - a pinch
- Flour - 250 gr
- Baking powder - ½ tsp
- Orange zest
- Cinnamon - for serving
- Powdered sugar - for serving
Method of preparation
1. Mix all ingredients in a deep bowl until smooth.
2. Heat the oil to 180 degrees.
3. Spoon the dough in and put it in the oil. Fry until golden brown on all sides.
4. Sprinkle the still hot doughnuts with powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon.
