On July 5, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Moscow, the capital of the Russian aggressor country, on a "peace mission." He met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin a few days after he visited Kyiv and called for a ceasefire before the talks.

The politician's trip was reported by Index, quoting a government spokesman. The Kremlin also confirmed the guest's visit, but without giving any details.

According to Flight Radar, after noon on Friday, Orban was already in the Russian capital. Journalists also reported that the plane used by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto was also in Moscow.

"Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Moscow as part of his peace mission. He will meet with Vladimir Putin," commented the head of the Hungarian government's press service, Bertalan Hawassi.

Earlier, they reported that the prime minister would go to Moscow "to hold talks with the leader of the other side of the Russian-Ukrainian war."

"After Kyiv, on to Moscow. The second stop of the peace mission" reads the post on the Hungarian prime minister's Facebook page.

According to the Hungarian media, after Russia, Viktor Orban is going to Shusha (Azerbaijan), where he will take part in the summit of the Organization of Turkic States on July 5 and 6. They will discuss "building a sustainable future" through transport, communications, and climate policies, as well as the OST's relations with the European Union and other international organizations. Hungary, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU Council, is an observer at the event.

Earlier, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that Orban does not have a European Union mandate to travel to Russia on behalf of the EU. The head of the European Union's foreign policy department, Josep Borrell, expressed his belief that he went to Moscow "exclusively within the framework of bilateral relations" between Hungary and Russia.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, international affairs expert Yaroslav Voitko noted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban conveyed a Kremlin message to Kyiv during his visit to Ukraine. It is about his "request" to cease fire in order to start negotiations.
