After lengthy discussions about the health of 59-year-old NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, who is stuck on the ISS, it was reported that her colleague, 61-year-old Barry Wilmore, is now under close medical supervision. The astronaut allegedly lost weight during his 160-day stay on the International Space Station.

As the New York Post has learned, NASA is currently monitoring Wilmore's health. Doctors are taking precautions to ensure that he does not reach a tipping point.

It is known that at the beginning of the mission, 1.8-meter Barry Wilmore weighed more than 95 kilograms. His weight after a long stay in space is unknown.

"Initially, he had a much higher mass. Any changes in the astronauts' bodies are recorded. And his weight seems to have decreased," the employee told the publication.

Experts emphasize that during long-term missions to the ISS, astronauts usually lose about five percent of their initial body weight, mainly due to the loss of muscle and bone density caused by microgravity.

However, the day before, Sunita Williams said in her address from space that she had gained muscle mass aboard the ISS because astronauts do weightlifting in the orbital laboratory. As for the thin appearance in the latest photos, Suni explained it as a "fluid shift" during her stay in space.

NASA claimed that "all astronauts aboard the ISS undergo regular medical checkups, are monitored by flight surgeons, and are healthy."

According to insiders, NASA is warning employees that leaking confidential information about astronauts' health could be grounds for dismissal.

As a reminder, Sunita Williams and her fellow astronaut Barry Wilmore arrived at the ISS on June 6. Their mission was supposed to last 9 days. However, due to a malfunction, the Boeing Starliner spacecraft was unable to deliver them to Earth on time and the astronauts were stuck in space. Their return home is scheduled for February 2025.
