Pineapple is not only a very healthy and tasty fruit, but also a great decoration for any holiday table. There are many ways to serve pineapple, each of which is extremely original. However, you should be able to choose this fruit correctly so as not to buy a pineapple that is too green or, on the contrary, a rotten fruit.

A food blogger with the nickname treskablog shared her tips on how to choose a pineapple on Instagram. Following her advice, you will always buy only ripe and sweet fruit.

What to look for when choosing a pineapple?

  • Crown
  • Color
  • Hardness

Crown

Pick up a pineapple and check how the crown moves. If it is almost stationary, the pineapple is green. If the crown is completely twisted, the pineapple is overripe.

Color

You should also check the color of the bottom of the pineapple. It should be yellow or slightly orange. If you see green, the pineapple is green. If it is brown, the pineapple is overripe.

Softness

When you press on the pineapple, the ripe fruit should deform slightly. A hard pineapple indicates that it is not ripe. A pineapple that is too soft, on the contrary, means that it is overripe and you should not buy it.
