European buyers, like Ukrainian buyers, prefer affordable cars. Only the leaders are different. But there is another similarity - the demand for crossovers is very high.
Automotive News Europe reports that since the beginning of 2023, 6.6 million new cars have been bought in Europe. Of these, more than half - 51% - were crossovers. In 2022, their share was 48%.
The most popular cars in Europe:
- Tesla Model Y - 138,152 units;
- Dacia Sandero - 124,190 units;
- Volkswagen T-Roc - 111,692 units;
- Peugeot 208 - 105,699 units;
- Opel Corsa - 105,637 units;
- Renault Clio - 100,298 units;
- Toyota Yaris Cross - 96,849 units;
- Fiat 500 - 90,464 units;
- Volkswagen Golf - 88,899 units;
- Dacia Duster - 86,872 units.
Out of 3.36 million crossovers, 2.13 million were compact models. These include the Toyota Yaris Cross, Volkswagen T-Roc, and Tesla Model Y.
In addition, the American electric car topped the market in the first half of 2023. Until recently, the VW T-Roc remained the most popular car.
