"There will be no betrayal": Reznikov predicts the end of the war in Ukraine and names conditions for negotiations with Russia
Ukraine's Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov believes that the full-scale war launched by Russia against Ukraine should end this year. According to the Minister, 2023 should be marked by Ukraine's victory over the Russian invaders.
Oleksiy Reznikov expressed this and other opinions in an interview with New Voice. The minister also said that he ruled out the possibility of signing a peace agreement between Ukraine and the Kremlin.
He recalled that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had personally stated that negotiations with the Kremlin dictator were absolutely unacceptable to him. Therefore, the government is ready to engage in dialogue with Russia only on its own terms, which include the withdrawal of enemy troops from Ukraine, as well as the payment of reparations and contributions.
"The Ukrainian people will not agree to this. If you read all the latest sociological studies, everyone is in favour of victory, no one will negotiate for the liberation of our territories... Thirdly, the Ukrainian parliament reflects the opinion of the people. Therefore, all our partners must understand that we will not compromise. So nothing will change under any circumstances. The position of the President, the people, the position of our partners, and my personal position all coincide, and there will be no betrayal," said Oleksiy Reznikov.
The head of the Ministry of Defence added that as of today, the Russian-Ukrainian war has turned into a clash of Western resources against the racists. However, under such conditions, Reznikov is convinced that the war cannot last long. The civilised world remembers and will not forgive the war crimes of the aggressor country.
"I think this war will end soon. Of course, I would like it not to start, but I personally believe in this year as a year of victory," the minister said.
Recall that Reznikov outlined the key objectives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' counter-offensive and explained what determines its timing. He noted that the start of the counter-offensive is influenced by many factors, such as soil conditions and weather.
