The British royal family has dozens of protocols that stylists working for monarchs should familiarize themselves with. Interestingly, the wife of William, the Duke of Cambridge, has already broken certain rules while attending a social event.

One of the most important style rules is that royal women must wear coats at social events. This is because undressing in public according to royal protocol is perceived as bad manners. Therefore, members of the royal family should never take off their coats or jackets in public.

According to Borrowman, this explains why so many royal women prefer coat dresses.

The Duchess of Cambridge often appears in such an outfit, but she has previously been spotted breaking this rule.

"More recently, the Duchess of Cambridge has rejected this rule and removed her coat when attending indoor events," Borrowman said.

Other important rules of royal style are related to the colors that monarchs choose when traveling abroad.

"When touring abroad, royal protocol dictates that royal women also honor local history and traditions by wearing the colors of the country they are in. They can also do this by wearing jewelry given to the queen by that country, or by respecting local customs, such as covering their heads with a headscarf," the expert said.

Borrowman also noted that all members of the royal family, especially the queen, should be "easily distinguishable in a crowd."

"That's why the Queen used to prefere bold colors. It is believed that one of the favorite colors of Elizabeth II's clothes was light green. The Queen wore this shade on the most memorable days, such as her 90th birthday in 2016," the marketing manager explained.

The expert said that green lime is the perfect color to stand out from the crowd, but it is believed that the Queen particularly loved the green colour because it symbolizes hope.

Borrowman also explained why the royal family always wears black when traveling, "The tragedy taught a lesson in life, giving rise to a whole new travel protocol that relates to this date."
