Bulgaria, following Poland and Hungary, is discussing a decision to ban imports of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products. This is a consequence of the oversaturation of the EU market with Ukrainian products.

Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture Yavir Gechev said that the Bulgarian government is already discussing the introduction of a ban, according to BNR News. This is demanded by local farmers: they cannot sell their products because there is already a large amount of relatively cheap Ukrainian goods on the market.

"Bulgarian interests need to be protected as well, especially when such a restriction has already been imposed by two other states, there is a serious risk of large quantities accumulating in our country if we do not also take appropriate measures," he said.

Gechev added that the ban has already been discussed with the agriculture ministers of six European countries. At the same time, Bulgaria asked Brussels about the problem back in September last year.

Earlier on Twitter, Polish Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Buda made public the decision to embargo Ukrainian agricultural products. The decision was agreed with the farmers who appealed to the country's authorities to protect their rights and create favorable conditions for the sale of agricultural products on the Polish market.

"In accordance with the directive decision of the Council of Ministers, I have just signed a decree banning the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. The list of banned products includes cereals, milk, eggs and poultry," the official wrote.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk and Bulgarian Economy Minister Nikola Stoyanov discussed the possibility of deepening trade relations between the countries. In particular, they talked about increasing the import of Ukrainian grain and sunflowers.
