Lukashenko condemns IOC

The self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lutskashenko, has called the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) recommendation to allow athletes from the aggressor country to compete only under a neutral flag an abomination. At the same time, he pretended not to understand these sanctions against representatives of Russia and Belarus.

Lukashenko said this during his address to the Belarusian people and parliament, the BelTA propaganda news agency reports. The head of Belarus, who has usurped power in the country and supports Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, added that the athletes will pass this stage in their careers.

"If you don't want us to perform under our own flag, we'll tolerate it. Although this is disgusting: why are you under the flag and we are not? We will endure it, we have to survive it. Don't worry about it. The athlete will come home and unfurl this flag at the airport, say that he was deprived of the opportunity to play under this flag, but he is a patriot... I proceed from the athlete's personality - it's his life. We don't need this kind of sport. This is not a sport at all. This is already a direction of politics. And not even politics, this is the direction of war," Lukashenko said.

As a reminder, the IOC recommended that international federations suspend Russian and Belarusian athletes involved in the army and law enforcement agencies from competitions and exclude them from team sports. Following this, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to boycott tournaments involving the aggressors.

In response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova blamed all of Russia's crimes on the West. And Tatyana Navka, a traitor to Ukraine and Dmitry Peskov's wife, called the IOC's decision the West's desire to wipe Russia off the map.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the German publication BILD named top Russian athletes who do not meet the IOC's eligibility criteria.
