As OBOZREVATEL found out, an effective fertilizer can be made at home. It will help not only in maintaining the condition of adult plants but also in their reproduction.

What garden roses need

For a lush and long flowering, as well as for resistance to diseases and pests, potassium and phosphorus are vital for roses. Both substances are found in banana skins. It also requires magnesium, calcium and sulfur which affect the rose positively as well.

The simplest fertilizer from banana peels

If you do not have a lot of time to care for roses, just bury banana peels under the bushes. To do this, take a fresh peel, wash it properly, cut it into small pieces and mix it with the substrate.

In this case, the peel, while decomposing, will gradually release nutrients into the soil. The result of such fertilizer is prolonged. It improves the quality of the soil and helps to maintain optimal moisture. In the same way, you can nourish the soil when planting or transplanting roses.

Liquid fertilizer from banana peels

If you devote a little time and effort to creating a fertilizer, you can get an easy-to-use liquid for watering. To prepare it, take 3-4 banana peels, wash well with hot water, cut them into small pieces, put them in a 3-liter glass jar and pour boiled water cooled to room temperature. Then the jar should be covered with a lid and left in a dark place for 14 days.

It should be stirred once a day while insisting. When two weeks pass, the liquid should be strained, diluted with water in a ratio of 1:1 and used for watering roses.

You can spray the bushes with this fertilizer. It will help to get rid of aphids. It is better to carry out in the evening at sunset, so that the liquid works better.

Using bananas to propagate roses

Banana peel can be a good substrate for propagating roses. It can be used to root cuttings without cutting them from the stem.

To create a cuttings, select the woody area of the rose branch. Make a small incision with a sharp, clean knife and separate a piece of bark. After that, wrap a strip of banana peel around the incision and secure it with natural thread.

To fix the peel, use a half-liter plastic bottle. Cut the neck off of it and then cut it in half lengthwise. Place one half under the cut, fill with soil and cover with the other half. Water the soil in the bottle, then wrap this holder with an opaque, preferably black bag. From time to time, refill the soil with a little fresh water.

After about 60 days, the branch will develop many new roots under the bottle. This shoot can be cut and immediately planted in the ground.
