Garlic is a healthy and unpretentious crop that seems to be quite easy to grow in the garden. However, gardeners often face problems. The leaves may suddenly start to turn yellow.

Yellowing is caused by a lack of nutrients and moisture. Read the OBOZ.UA article to know how to fertilize garlic in the spring to get a generous harvest.

Why garlic turns yellow

Garlic begins to turn yellow due to unfavorable weather conditions, insufficiently loose soil, or lack of nutrients.

Proper fertilization should be aimed at providing the plant with all the necessary trace elements and protecting the crop even in hot and dry periods.

When and how to feed garlic

After the first sprouts appear, urea should be added to the soil. Take no more than 1 tbsp of the substance for a bucket of water and water the bed thoroughly.

20-30 days after the first feeding, garlic will need potassium and magnesium fertilizers. This is the best time to add potassium or magnesium sulfate.

In summer, garlic can be fertilized with wood ash.

Urea will also come in handy: you can add it when the temperature is stable and warm, at least +17 ℃. You will need 50 grams of fertilizer per bucket of water.
