Ukrainians continue to save money on cars: what models they buy
Ukrainians are trying to save money on cars, so they refuse to buy combustible fuel as gasoline and diesel are becoming more expensive. For this reason, sales of electric cars in Ukraine are breaking records.
15,932 electric cars have been bought in the country since the beginning of 2023 (from January to July). This exceeds the result for the whole year 2022 by 2,614 copies. If we compare it with the January-July 2022 period, the result is 2.8 times higher, according to the Federation of Automotive Employers.
The most popular electric cars in July:
- Nissan Leaf (480 pcs.);
- Volkswagen e-Golf (379 units);
- Volkswagen ID.4 (278 units).

The share of new electric cars increased from 16.9% to 21.4%. Nissan Leaf and e-Golf are traditionally in demand in Ukraine (mostly used cars). However, the new VW ID.4 crossover has made it to the top three as its imports from China have recently increased. The German brand does not sell this model in our country officially.
The most popular brands of electric cars:
- Volkswagen (3,896 pcs.);
- Tesla (2916 pcs.);
- Nissan (2,594 units);
- Honda (1,232 units);
- Renault (811 pcs.).
