Acting head coach of the Ukrainian national team Ruslan Rotan hoped that midfielder Viktor Tsygankov would be the player who would bring the team a result in the Euro 2024 qualifying match against England. The Blue and Yellows coach, when drawing up a plan for the game in London, hoped that the Girona midfielder would be in great shape.

Rotan said this at a press conference after the game, the official website of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) reports. He added that he expected high and intense pressure from the opponent in the opening stages of each half, and his team had to withstand this pressure.

"We had a plan before the game. We were well aware that the first half would be very difficult for us, the England team would actively press, cover, and give us little time to work with the ball. We just had to withstand this pressure and control the ball well. For the second half, we had an idea that Tsygankov, who is in great form, would be able to make the result with his successful actions. Unfortunately, the plans did not work out. Therefore, you can evaluate it differently, but it was my decision," said Rotan.

Recall, the Ukrainian national team lost without a chance to England at the start of the selection for Euro 2024. Throughout the match, our team did not score a single shot into the opponent's goal.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the fans of the Ukrainian and English national teams fantastically performed our country's anthem at Wembley during the match on March 26.
