February is the month associated with roses, symbols of love and beauty. This is usually a good time to take care of them so that they will delight you with their lush blooms in the summer. However, you should first determine how to properly care for your particular type of rose.

Don't rush to take up the pruning shears right away, because there are varieties that should never be pruned in February. Experts shared their tips for the Express edition to keep your roses blooming.

There is a widespread belief that roses should be pruned in February to stimulate their growth and abundant flowering in summer. However, it is crucial to remember that this does not apply to all varieties.

Experts emphasize that non-evergreen roses, including spray roses and some types of old roses, should not be pruned.

For example, such varieties of spray roses as Lady Banks, Dorothy Perkins, Blaze, and the old variety Seven Sisters have a unique flowering schedule, so you should refrain from pruning them in February.

These flowers bloom in one large stream during late spring and early summer based on how they grew last year. The rest of the time, they either do not bloom at all or produce very few flowers.

If you still need to prune such roses, experts recommend waiting until the middle of summer.
