Skin can look dull in the winter months even with good skincare due to a lack of vitamin D. There are a few simple ways to restore its youthful glow.

According to the Express, the aesthetic clinic Evolve Medical, together with nutritionist and healthy skin specialist Emma Bardwell, told us what women can do to keep their skin looking young and healthy in winter. Emma highlighted such important vitamins as A, C, D, E, and zinc. They play a key role, especially in winter. The expert shared that dullness and dryness are the most common problems at low temperatures.

According to the nutritionist, skin health is directly related to our self-esteem. During menopause, women see a lot of changes in their skin, including pigmentation, rashes, acne, dryness, and itching. And when combined with the winter season, this can make skin problems worse.

Emma talked about a diet that contains superfoods rich in vitamins and nutrients that women should eat to improve their skin.

Salmon is a populae food thanks to its omega-3 content, which is ideal for skin health. Not only does it prevent inflammation, but it also contains DHA and EPA, which protect the integrity of cell membranes, preventing premature aging.

Walnuts are a great alternative for vegetarians and are also rich in omega-3. By protecting cell membranes from moisture loss, they help keep your skin soft and supple. They also give your skin a more even tone, reduce acne, fight dryness, inflammation and protect against UV damage.

Chia seeds are a good source of fiber, helping to moisturize and reduce inflammation. Fiber is good for intestinal health, which has a positive effect on the skin microbiome. Therefore, foods that are good for your intestines will be good for your skin, the nutritionist believes.

Red and orange vegetables are rich in lycopene. This nutrient helps prevent skin discoloration, texture changes, and wrinkles. One such food is baked sweet potatoes. Just one half of a potato contains 200% of the recommended daily value of this substance.

Legumes such as peas and lentils contain many trace elements that are very beneficial for the skin and intestines. Vitamin B is responsible for stimulating cell renewal, reducing rashes, and producing collagen.

Oranges are one of the most famous sources of vitamin C. They stimulate collagen production and promote skin moisturizing and wound healing.

Blueberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamins that increase skin elasticity and give a healthy glow. You can add these berries to your diet or make a mask of ground blueberries and yogurt.

Green tea is very beneficial for skin radiance. This drink is rich in antioxidants, helps to relieve any congestion, protects against harmful environmental factors and helps to give a healthy complexion.

According to the nutritionist, avocados are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, which also moisturize and protect the skin, reducing the risk of premature photoaging. The list of superfoods also includes tomatoes, Brazil nuts, turmeric, carrots, cabbage, spinach, and almonds.
