The legendary American singer Madonna and her 16-year-old adopted son David Banda Ciccone-Ricci attended the boxing championship in New York. According to Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele, the dress was inspired by Madonna's image from 30 years ago. The designer of the original dress is Laura Whitcomb, the founder of the Label brand. She was one of the first to combine sporty style with the opposite motifs in clothing.

The iconic singer has four adopted children: Stella (2012), Esther (2012), Mercy James (2006) and David Banda (2005). All of them are natives of the African country of Malawi.
