It became a "curse" for them: five actors whose lives were ruined by one movie role

The roles were a challenge for the actors

No one on planet Earth is perfect - everyone makes mistakes, including Hollywood stars. Strange as it may seem, but popular movies have brought disappointment to the heroes of our selection. They, by the way, played the main roles in them. Some of them paid with their careers, others with their health.

OBOZREVATEL tells why the stars of "Die Hard," "Battlefield: Earth," "Scooby-Doo" had to suffer. Few people suspected that these movies were a real test for them (to see the photo, scroll to the end of the page).

Bruce Willis - "Die Hard"

It would seem that this cult action film could ruin the life of American actor Bruce Willis. The film conquered the audience around the world and gave fame to the artist, but significantly damaged his health. During the filming of an accident, as a result of which the star of the film is partially deaf in one ear. Even after 35 years, hearing has never returned to Willis.

George Clooney - "Syriana"

Actor George Clooney won numerous awards, including an Academy Award, for the political thriller directed by Stephen Gahan, which premiered in 2005. But few people know that the actor suffered a head injury on the set, which led to prolonged severe headaches and side effects. He had to undergo several surgeries and undergo lengthy rehabilitation in order to return to his former life.

Madonna - "Swept Away"

The British-Italian melodrama directed by Guy Ritchie, starring Madonna and Adriano Giannini, premiered on October 8, 2002. This film proved that the legendary singer shouldn't be in movies anymore - audiences and directors dramatically questioned her talent. "Gone" was a real bomb at the box office, grossing more than $600,000 in theaters, while it only cost $10 million to make. Madonna won "awards" for her role as "Worst Actress" and "Worst Screen Couple" at the Golden Raspberry Awards. Since then, the celebrity has not been taken seriously as an actress. And she vowed never to act in movies again.

John Travolta - "Battlefield: Earth."

The film, describing the aftermath of the invasion of Earth by alien invading psycles starring Travolta, has been called by The Guardian one of the worst in modern times. It cost the creators $73 million and brought in less than $30 million. The cinematic failure affected not only John, but all the actors who took part in the project. Their career growth declined and their royalties were almost halved.

Freddie Prinz Jr. is "Scooby-Doo."

American actor Freddie Prinz Jr. was an incredibly in-demand entertainer in the '90s. However, the new millennium brought a change of fortune to the selebrity. While movie makers still sought to produce romantic comedies with the star, audiences became less interested in him. Freddie endured a string of failures in the first few years of the decade and decided to try playing the blond paranormal explorer Fred in Scooby-Doo. Despite good box office receipts, the 2002 cartoon was criticized and prompted Prince Jr. to leave the movie set for good.

Previously, OBOZREVATEL showed how the actors of the movie "Harry Potter" have changed 22 years after filming. Many of them are no longer alive. The beloved Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid, passed away at the age of 72 last October, and the death of Alan Rickman in 2016, who portrayed Severus Snape as a potions teacher, was a big blow to fans.
